The phrase "Singapore visa types" often mixes several different systems. A short-visit entry visa, SG Arrival Card, VFTF transit, Visit Pass, Employment Pass, S Pass, Work Permit, Student's Pass, Dependant's Pass and Long-Term Visit Pass are not interchangeable. The right route depends first on why you are travelling, then on the passport or sponsor route involved.

Reviewed on 3 July 2026: use this page as a route map, not as a fixed-fee or fixed-timing checklist. ICA, MFA and MOM rules can change, and the official live pages decide the detail. VisatoSingapore's paid filing scope remains Singapore travel or entry-visa help for eligible Form 14A cases; work, study and family pass pages here are informational unless a page explicitly says otherwise.

Which Singapore visa or pass should I start with?

For an ordinary short visit, start with the passport. If ICA lists that travel document as visa-required, the traveller usually needs a Singapore entry visa before travel and the application route is Form 14A through a permitted local contact, strategic partner, authorised visa agent or Mission route. If the passport is visa-free for a short visit, do not buy Form 14A help just because a page says "Singapore visa"; check SG Arrival Card and entry requirements instead.

For work, study, family residence or staying longer after arrival, the question is no longer only a tourist or entry visa. Work passes sit with MOM, Student's Pass sits with ICA, and DP/LTVP routes depend on the sponsor and relationship. These routes may still require an entry check before travel, but the pass itself is a separate process.

Short visit: entry visa, Form 14A and e-Visa

The normal travel-visa route is the Singapore entry visa, prepared through Form 14A for visa-required passports. Travellers search for it as tourist visa, visit visa, e-Visa, online visa or Singapore visa application, but the core question is the same: does this travel document need a pre-travel entry visa for this trip?

An approved e-Visa is not permission to stay as long as you want. ICA officers decide entry at the checkpoint and issue the Visit Pass or e-Pass stay period after arrival clearance. That is why the application, arrival declaration and checkpoint decision need to be kept separate.

SG Arrival Card and e-Pass are not visa types

SG Arrival Card is a free ICA arrival declaration for travellers who clear Singapore immigration, where ICA requires it. It is not a Singapore entry visa, not a paid Form 14A service and not a guarantee of entry. Visa-required travellers may need both an approved entry visa before travel and SG Arrival Card before arrival.

The e-Pass or Electronic Visit Pass is different again. It records the Visit Pass details after checkpoint clearance; it is not the pre-travel visa application and should not be sold as an e-Visa download shortcut.

Transit: VFTF, airside transfer or normal entry

Some travellers who say "Singapore transit visa" only stay airside at Changi and do not clear immigration. Others collect baggage, self-transfer, change terminal landside or want a short stopover in Singapore. Those are different risk profiles, so the transit route has to be checked against the real itinerary.

VFTF is the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility for specific nationalities and qualifying routes. It is assessed at the checkpoint against current ICA conditions; it is not a normal tourist visa, not a visa on arrival and not a promise of entry.

Work routes: EP, S Pass, Work Permit and MOM passes

There is no single "Singapore work visa." MOM runs separate passes such as Employment Pass, S Pass and Work Permit, plus other routes for founders or top talent. Salary, quota, levy, COMPASS, source-country and processing details are live MOM rules, so the safe next step is the exact MOM pass page or the employer's appointed employment agent.

Form 14A does not make someone allowed to work. VisatoSingapore can help with eligible short-stay entry-visa preparation when the passport requires it, for example before a brief visit, but we do not file Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit applications.

Study, family and long-term routes

A Student's Pass is an ICA study route that normally starts after a Singapore institution accepts the student and opens the application path. Student work rights are limited and should be checked against MOM's live student-work rules; a tourist visa is not a study pass.

Dependant's Pass and Long-Term Visit Pass routes are family or residence routes, not short-visit visas. MOM handles family passes for eligible work-pass holders; ICA handles other LTVP routes tied to Singapore citizens, permanent residents and some family situations. Work rights, sponsor eligibility and documents must be checked on the live official route.

Does VisatoSingapore file every Singapore visa type?

No. VisatoSingapore prepares Singapore travel or entry-visa cases for eligible visa-required travellers, including Form 14A preparation, document consistency review and permitted-route guidance. It does not issue visas, control ICA decisions or replace MOM/ICA pass portals.

Use the broad visa hub for entry requirements, the SG Arrival Card guide for the free arrival declaration, the VFTF guide for transit, and the exact work, study or family pass guide for information-only routing before checking the official MOM or ICA page.
