Singapore visit visa vs Visit Pass and e-Pass

VisatoSingapore Editorial TeamUpdated Jul 30, 20263 min read

Short answer

ICA grants a Visit Pass after a foreign visitor clears arrival immigration. The e-Pass is its digital record and can be retrieved with a D/E number or passport details.

  • ICA — Electronic Visit Pass retrieval
  • ICA — SG Arrival Card
  • ICA — Entry visa requirements

For a short-term foreign visitor, the Visit Pass is the permission to stay that ICA grants after arrival clearance. The e-Pass is the electronic record of that permission, not a pre-travel visa. It shows the D/E number, maximum stay granted and last permitted day in Singapore.

Reviewed on 16 July 2026: if the passport needs a visa, prepare Form 14A before travel. The free SG Arrival Card is a separate arrival declaration. ICA decides entry and Visit Pass conditions at the checkpoint, then sends the e-Pass after immigration clearance.

How do I retrieve my ICA e-Pass?

After immigration clearance, check the email address used for your SG Arrival Card. ICA sends the e-Pass there. If the email is missing, use ICA's e-Pass Enquiry Portal on the SG Arrival Card e-Service and retrieve the record with either the D/E number for the current trip or your passport details.

The D/E number also appears in the SG Arrival Card acknowledgement email or PDF. In MyICA, open SG Arrival Card, choose Submitted Declarations and select the submission for your current trip. Singapore permanent residents and Long-Term Pass holders are not issued an e-Pass on arrival.

Is a Singapore visit visa the same as a Visit Pass or e-Pass?

A Singapore visit visa means the pre-travel entry visa required for some passports. Singapore visit visa and Visit Pass are different. An approved entry visa lets a traveller seek entry; it does not guarantee admission or set the final stay period. The Visit Pass is the stay permission granted at the checkpoint if ICA clears the traveller for entry.

The e-Pass is the electronic version of that Visit Pass record. Do not read an e-Pass page as a visa-application portal, and do not treat an approved e-Visa as permission to stay until the visa expires. The checkpoint decision and the e-Pass stay period are separate.

Is SG Arrival Card the same as a Visit Pass?

SG Arrival Card is an arrival declaration, not a visa and not the Visit Pass itself. A visa-required traveller may need both an approved entry visa before travel and an SG Arrival Card before arrival, then still has to clear immigration before any Visit Pass or e-Pass exists.

If a page sells SG Arrival Card as a paid visa, e-Pass download or guaranteed stay extension, treat that as a warning sign. Use ICA's official channels for SG Arrival Card and e-Pass retrieval questions.

How do I check the last day of stay?

To check the last permitted day of stay, start from the e-Pass or checkpoint record, not from the visa validity printed before travel. The stay period is attached to the Visit Pass conditions after arrival.

If the traveller needs more time, the safe route is ICA's Visit Pass extension process before the current stay expires. VFTF stays should not be planned as renewable stays, and SG Arrival Card is not an extension request.

When does Form 14A still matter?

Form 14A matters before travel for eligible visa-required travellers who need a Singapore entry visa. It does not issue the Visit Pass, extend the stay, create work permission or replace the checkpoint decision.

VisatoSingapore can help with eligible Singapore travel or entry-visa preparation and permitted filing-route guidance. Visit Pass, e-Pass retrieval and extension decisions remain ICA matters, so this guide is informational rather than a paid e-Pass or Visit Pass filing product.
