Singapore tourist visa and e-Visa online: apply route, Form 14A and SGAC

Travellers often call this document a Singapore tourist visa, visit visa or e-Visa. ICA's official term is usually Singapore entry visa: a pre-entry permission for visa-required travellers to travel to Singapore and seek entry. It is not the same as permission to stay, and it is not the same as the SG Arrival Card.

For travellers, the practical question is simple: does your passport need a visa before travel, and if it does, which Form 14A filing route applies? This guide maps the steps so you can prepare the right documents before booking.

Tourist visa, visit visa, Singapore e-Visa and online visa are often used interchangeably. For a short social visit, family visit, sightseeing trip or business meeting, they usually refer to the Singapore entry-visa route and Form 14A where a visa is required.

The important limit is scope. This is not a work pass, Student's Pass, Dependant's Pass or long-term family route. Those are separate ICA or MOM processes. ICA lists the passports and travel documents that require a valid Singapore entry visa before travel. If your nationality is visa-free, do not buy a Form 14A service just because a travel site uses the word visa. You may still need the free SG Arrival Card before immigration, but that card is not a visa.

If your passport is visa-required, plan before you book tightly timed travel. ICA notes that a visa lets you travel to Singapore and seek entry, but possession of a visa does not guarantee entry. The Visit Pass and allowed stay are determined at the checkpoint.

For many visa-required travellers, an approved application is issued as an e-Visa that can be printed by the local contact, strategic partner or authorised visa agent using ICA's e-Service. That is why people call it an online visa, but the route is not simply an open self-service form for every traveller.

ICA says applications can be submitted online through a strategic partner or a Singapore local contact with Singpass/Corppass. If you do not have such a local contact, the application may go through an authorised visa agent appointed by a Singapore Overseas Mission, or through the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission. Always verify the current route on ica.gov.sg or the relevant Mission site before relying on a summary.

Not always. The online part is the filing channel, not proof that every traveller can self-submit directly. A visa-required tourist may need a Singapore local contact, strategic partner, authorised visa agent or Singapore Overseas Mission route depending on passport, residence and the live procedure.

If a page says you can always apply for a Singapore tourist visa online with no route check, slow down before paying. First confirm the passport requirement, then choose the correct Form 14A submission path and keep SG Arrival Card separate from the visa application.

A US ordinary-passport holder visiting Singapore for five days usually does not prepare Form 14A, because that passport is not on ICA's visa-required list. The traveller still checks entry requirements and submits the free SG Arrival Card when no exemption applies.

An Indian ordinary-passport holder on the same itinerary needs the entry visa before travel. That traveller prepares Form 14A and uses a permitted local-contact, strategic-partner, Mission or authorised-agent route. Sharing flights or accommodation does not make the two passport rules identical.

No. The e-Visa is the printable result after an entry-visa application is approved. The Visit Pass or e-Pass is the permission and stay period granted after arrival when Singapore officers admit the traveller at the checkpoint.

That difference matters because an approved e-Visa does not guarantee entry, does not decide the final stay period and does not replace the free SG Arrival Card when ICA requires that arrival declaration.

Form 14A is the core application form for a Singapore entry visa. ICA may ask for the completed form, a recent passport-style photograph, a passport biodata page valid for at least six months from the date of entry, and additional supporting documents such as a Letter of Introduction where required.

The documents should tell one consistent story: who is travelling, when they arrive and leave, where they will stay, who is connected to the Singapore side of the trip, and how the trip is funded. Names, passport numbers, dates and addresses should match across the form, bookings and supporting evidence.

ICA publishes official processing guidance and fees for specific visa-required nationalities, and these details can change. Some applications take longer than the standard guidance, and every application is considered on its own merits, so treat any fixed online promise as risky unless you can verify it on ICA or the relevant Mission page.

A good visa agent can prepare the form, check consistency, explain the filing route and submit eligible cases through a permitted path. A good agent cannot make ICA approve the visa, cannot guarantee the Visit Pass period, and cannot guarantee entry at the checkpoint.

A "96-hour Singapore visa" usually means the Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF), not a normal tourist visa. ICA describes VFTF as a facility for travellers who may qualify if they meet the nationality, onward-ticket and third-country conditions that apply to their case.

Do not treat VFTF as a visa on arrival or a guaranteed short visa. ICA officers assess entry at the checkpoint, and extension of stay under VFTF is not allowed. If your itinerary is not a genuine transit route, check the normal entry-visa path instead.
