Do Malaysians need a visa for Singapore? 2026 SG Arrival Card guide

VisatoSingapore Editorial TeamUpdated Sep 8, 20264 min read

Short answer

Malaysian passport holders usually do not need a Singapore entry visa or Form 14A for ordinary short visits. They still need to meet entry requirements and, for most trips, submit the free SG Arrival Card.

  • ICA — Entry visa requirements
  • ICA — SG Arrival Card
  • ICA — Entering Singapore

For ordinary Malaysian passport holders, no Singapore entry visa or Form 14A is required for an ordinary short visit. Malaysia is absent from ICA's current visa-required list, checked on 8 September 2026. Special travel documents require their own check.

Treat that as a live eligibility check, not a forever rule. Before you travel, verify the current list on ica.gov.sg, especially if you hold a temporary document, refugee travel document, alien's passport, another nationality's passport, or any document that is not a regular Malaysian passport.

What Malaysian travellers need

Malaysia to Singapore visa? For a regular Malaysian passport and ordinary short visit, usually no Form 14A entry-visa application is prepared. Singapore visa for Malaysians can still mean entry requirements, checkpoint admission and SG Arrival Card, so do not skip the arrival declaration check.

An ordinary Malaysian passport used for a short visit usually means visa-free entry planning plus SGAC. A Malaysian resident travelling on an Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Russian, Egyptian, Nigerian or other visa-required passport should follow that passport's entry-visa route first.

SG Arrival Card Malaysia? ICA says SGAC submission is free and most travellers entering Singapore must submit it before arrival unless an exemption applies. The SGAC acknowledgement is not visa approval and does not guarantee entry.

When Malaysian travellers must submit SG Arrival Card

Visa-free does not mean paperwork-free. ICA says SG Arrival Card is not a visa, but most foreign visitors still need to submit it before arrival and provide trip and health-declaration details through ICA's official e-service.

Submit through ICA's free SG Arrival Card e-Service or MyICA within three days before arrival, including arrival day, unless exempt. Complete it before reaching Singapore. Travellers who remain in transit without clearing arrival immigration are also exempt.

Woodlands, Tuas and land-checkpoint confusion

Many Malaysia-Singapore trips happen through Woodlands or Tuas, so travellers often assume all land arrivals are exempt from SGAC. ICA's listed land-checkpoint exemption is for Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass holders entering through Woodlands or Tuas, not a blanket exemption for every Malaysian visitor.

If you are entering as a foreign visitor on a Malaysian passport, check the current SGAC exemption wording before the trip. If you are a Singapore resident or long-term pass holder, follow the resident lane that matches your pass and checkpoint route.

If you live in Malaysia but hold another passport

The visa answer follows the travel document you will use, not where you live. An Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Russian, Egyptian, Nigerian or other visa-required passport holder living in Malaysia may still need a Singapore entry visa before travelling.

In that case the application route is Form 14A through an eligible local contact, strategic partner, Singapore Overseas Mission or authorised visa agent, depending on your case and current ICA procedure. Malaysia residence by itself does not remove the visa requirement for a visa-required passport.

What ICA still checks at the border

A visa-free passport does not guarantee entry. Singapore officers decide admission at the checkpoint and issue the Visit Pass / e-Pass period, which is separate from any visa validity question.

Your passport must remain valid for at least six months from entry. Keep onward or return travel, accommodation details, purpose of visit and funds evidence consistent. ICA may ask for supporting details even when no entry visa was required in advance.

Where VisatoSingapore fits

VisatoSingapore prepares Form 14A cases for visa-required nationalities. If you hold a regular Malaysian passport for a short visit, there is usually nothing for us to file as a Singapore entry-visa application; your main task is SG Arrival Card and meeting entry requirements.

If you are in Malaysia but travelling on a visa-required passport, we can help prepare the Form 14A file where our authorised-route support applies. We do not issue visas and do not promise entry; ICA decides visa outcomes and checkpoint officers decide admission.
