Do Iraqi travellers need a transit visa for Singapore?

VisatoSingapore Editorial TeamReviewed Aug 4, 2026

Short answer

For an Iraqi passport holder, staying airside at Changi without clearing Singapore immigration generally means no Singapore entry visa or SG Arrival Card is needed for the transit itself. Confirm with the operating airline that your baggage and boarding passes can remain airside, especially with separate tickets or a self-transfer.

If the itinerary requires you to clear Singapore immigration, an Iraqi passport holder needs an ordinary Singapore entry visa before travel. This includes any connection where baggage collection, re-check-in or the airline's procedure requires landside processing.

ICA's VFTF uses a closed nationality list, and Iraqi passports are not listed in the current guidance. Before booking, check the live ICA transit/VFTF page and confirm the exact route with the airline, because official rules and airport handling can change.

Country-specific transit check

Iraq transit check: make the Changi route explicit

For Iraqi passport holders, the transit page should make the Changi route visible instead of leaving the traveller to guess whether entry is involved.

  • Write down arrival flight, onward flight, baggage flow and whether check-in happens airside or landside.
  • If the traveller enters Singapore, treat the file as an entry-visa case with purpose, stay and onward evidence.
  • Do not use SG Arrival Card or airline connection wording as proof that an entry visa is unnecessary.

Transit next steps

Transit or Singapore entry? Choose the next check

If the traveller stays airside, this is usually an airline and transit-area question. If the route requires baggage collection, self-transfer, a stopover or immigration clearance, compare the passport with the normal Singapore entry-visa route before paying for Form 14A help.
